Have you always wanted to know how to turn seasonal fruit & veg into amazing relishes, chutneys & sauces? This is your opportunity to learn how!
We start each workshop with a cup of tea & tastings of a selection of local cheeses & chutneys, while you learn all the fundamentals of these preserving methods, from ingredient & jar selection & prep to steps in production, bottling & storage. The importance of acidity, temperature & heat sealing will be explained, and you will put this all into practice when you get “hands-on”, using seasonal ingredients from the orchard to prepare & make a batch of yummy relish/ chutney or sauce
There will be lots of guidance during each step, as well as suggestions for interesting fruit/ veg/vinegar/spice combinations and flavours.
With the skills and knowledge gained from this class, you’ll be equipped to take advantage of the seasons and make these tasty preserves for use throughout the year, or as beautiful gifts.
Each participant will receive a take-home Chutney/Sauce Making Kit, with all the ingredients you need to get started.
Knowledge required: This class is appropriate for absolute beginners, those needing a refresher, or those who want extra tips to improve their preserving skills.
