This cool cheese story started when SJ was given a One-day Home Cheese Making Workshop as a birthday present in 2014. She fell in love with cheesemaking and went on to flood her social media with photos of her home cheese experiments, feeding the results to her friends.

In 2015 she attended the Australian Artisan Cheesemaking Academy in Adelaide and qualified as an Artisan Cheesemaker. Later she discovered that one of her Dutch Great Grandmothers had been a Cheesemaker in the early 20th Century. Whilst still training, SJ started working at The Second Mouse Cheese Co and when the business came up for sale in 2018, she decided that Cheesemaking was her destiny and she became the Head Mouse.

Second Mouse Cheese Co was started in 2013 with a vision of producing premium handmade artisan cheeses with locally sourced milk. Now staffed by an all-female cheesemaking team, Second Mouse Cheese Co are still passionately committed to the local food industry and working with independent businesses.
