Twisted River Wines
Helen Armstrong and Michelle Davies are not ones to sit idle. Having both worked in palliative care they are acutely aware of the fragility of life and the need to live it well.
With this in mind, they have thrown themselves into the rigors of winegrowing. Their piece of vinous paradise sits near the village of Manildra, between Orange and Parkes in the central ranges of NSW.
The majestic Goobang National Park overlooks the vines adding to the unique regions geological diversity with an inspiring range of flora and fauna and a deep connection to the Wiradjuri people.
With their menagerie of horses and dogs, Helen and Michelle produce one of the regions most awarded Shiraz Viognier. This is a wine that has been awarded numerous trophies, including the National Cool Climate Wine Show Champion Wine and Best Shiraz at the Australian New Zealand Boutique Wine Show.
The Twisted River wines are cool climate examples that express this single vineyard with elegance, vibrancy and appeal.
Along with the Twisted River Wines flagship Shiraz Viognier, the winegrowers produce Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Viognier. Grapes are all handpicked ; vines hand pruned.
While the dream of harvesting grapes to the soothing sounds of Vivaldi remains a dream, the hard work and determination of producing nothing but the finest wines has been its own reward.
