Have you always wanted to preserve those delicious seasonal fruits? This is your opportunity to learn how!
We start each workshop with a cup of tea and tastings of a selection of local cheeses and jams while you learn all the fundamentals of jam making, from fruit selection and jar preparation to 'setting point', bottling, and storage.
The importance of pectin, acidity, and temperature will be explained, and you will put this all into practice when you get “hands-on”, using fruit from the orchard to prepare and make a batch of yummy jam.
There will be lots of guidance during each step and suggestions for interesting fruit combinations and flavours.
With the skills and knowledge gained from this class, you’ll be equipped to take advantage of the seasons and preserve fruits when they are fresh and plentiful.
Each participant will receive a take-home Jam-Making Kit with all the ingredients needed to make their own fruit jam.
