ORANGE F.O.O.D WEEK

OUR PEOPLE

Tamburlaine Organic Wines

From humble beginnings in the Hunter Valley to becoming one of Australia’s largest producers of organic wine, Tamburlaine Organic Wines offer a wide range of award-winning, vegan-friendly, low sulphur and no added sulphur wines.

Named after Christopher Marlowe’s famous play and character ‘Tamburlaine the Great’, Tamburlaine began their shift to organics at the turn of the century, around the same time they purchased vineyards in the Orange region. Their winemaking philosophy is built upon the vision of Managing Director and Chief Winemaker, Mark Davidson, in producing high quality wines while prioritising organic and regenerative farming practices across their vineyards.

In 2020, Tamburlaine opened their Central West cellar door in the heart of historic Millthorpe. Just 20 minutes from the Orange CBD, the cellar door is located on Pym Street, nestled between boutique shops, cafes and two other award-winning cellar doors.

Once the General Store, the renovated space now offers guests a premium wine tasting experience with heritage roots and small-town charm.

Named Orange’s Star Cellar Door 2021 by Gourmet Traveller WINE, stop in for a tasting and sample the broad range of organic wines alongside local gourmet produce, or enjoy a cocktail and live music on Friday and Saturday nights as the cellar door morphs into a sleek wine bar (named ‘Sam’s Bar’) from 5pm.

You’ll find Tamburlaine at a wide range of F.O.O.D Week events, whether it be hunting across the Orange countryside at Forage, delighting guests at the Sampson Street Long Lunch or delivering an authentic taste of Millthorpe at the Millthorpe Mouthful, run in conjunction with The Millthorpe Wine Collective.
