Pickle & Fig

Sisters Shannon and Karly Weathered started Pickle&Fig in 2015. With a focus on fresh, flavour driven food the sisters have both a cafe and catering business in Orange. From a young age, Shannon and Karly were in the kitchen cooking everything from tomato relish to dolly varden cakes with their mother. Shannon pursued a career in hospitality straight after school, working in both private catering and other Sydney establishments. Shannon is excited by new and different ingredients and seeing the enjoyment when people taste her food.

For Karly, the impetus to commit to a career in hospitality was being shortlisted for a major television cooking show in 2014. Karly has a passion for old school baking and creating sweets. Her favourite ingredients are butter, sugar and flour.

Both women love to travel for foodie inspiration and always manage to add a cooking course to the itinerary. The ladies have no formal training and have learnt from working alongside superb chefs, reading lots of Gourmet Traveller and following their hearts and cravings like everyone’s favourite domestic goddess and fellow ‘cook’, Nigella Lawson. For the second year running, Pickle&Fig will be volunteering their time to do the dessert course at Orange’s Ronald McDonald Ball in September.
